Meet 67-year-old Kenyan Lady Who Will be Taking Part in Boston Marathon

Joyce Nduku aka Tata aka the Marathon Granny will be one of the athletes who will be taking part in the Boston Marathon on Monday, October 11. The 67-year-old has been running long distances since she was 50 in 2004.

The annual race will be her third marathon as a recreational runner. Her first being in Chicago while in 2019 she improved her record in New York Marathon and finished the race in four hours and fifty seconds.

However, she has been nursing a nagging Achilles problem but this won't put her down as she looks to participate against all odds. She adds that she is looking forward to participating in world major series which includes London, Berlin and Tokyo.

To ensure her participation in Boston Marathon, the former nutrition field officer with the Kenya Medical Research Institute, had to pay Sh32,000 for registration and Sh2,000 as insurance. She is also footing her transport and accommodation bills.
