Six Migori Family Members Hospitalised After Losing Eyesight, One Dies

Six members of family in Migori County were on Sunday hospitalised after loosing eyesight.

The latest unforeseen incident has left many villagers of Thim Jope in Uriri Sub County in surprise.

 A mother together with her four kids, who are between the age of seven and 24 years were admitted to Migori County Referral Hospital for medical treatment.

A 12-year-old boy from the same family became blind and and lost his life in unexplained reasons at home. 

Mr George Omondi told the press that his sweetheart together with the five kids were doing well when they retired to bed on Friday. The six lost their eyesight on Saturday morning. 

He added that his 12 year old nephew, who stays with them turned blind shortly, collapsed and lost his life.

 “My sweetheart and all the kids were doing well when they retired to bed on Friday night. I came to realise that all family had lost their eyesight on Saturday morning,” said Mr Omondi.

Thim Jope Sub-Location Assistant Chief Kerry Otieno confirmed the unfortunate situation.

The family members initially brought spiritual leaders for prayers, only for the six to be taken to the hospital for emergency treatment later. Medics at the facility were yet to reveal what transpired.
