Suna East Sub-county Police Commander Hesau Ochorokodi stated that the woman's body was discovered along the road by members of the public on Friday morning. The police chief stated that they were unable to immediately identify the deceased because her assailants appeared to have taken off with her head. The body was taken to the mortuary at Migori Level Hospital pending an autopsy and a police investigation.
Mr. Ochorokodi stated that they are working on modalities to increase patrols within Awendo Sub County to deal with the rising cases of insecurity and thus appeals for assistance from members of the public. Concerns have been raised about an increase in cases of insecurity in Awendo subcounty as a result of the incident. Two people were killed in Awendo town a week ago, and a teacher's wrist was also severed by unknown assailants. Residents of Awendo sub-county want security officers to put in place measures to combat rising cases of insecurity.
