DCI Makes significant changes at the directorate to tame rate of crime across the country

Director of Criminal Investigations, Mohamed Amin, made significant changes at the directorate, as he continues to assemble a team with which he intends to work.

According to a statement dated Monday, November 21, the DCI made a total of 66 reshuffles that saw several senior and junior officers moved.

All units at the DCI headquarters and major divisions were affected by the changes made by Amin as he sought to tame the rate of crime across the country.

Among the notable names in the latest reshuffle included the transfer of the head of the Land Fraud Unit, George Mutonya, who was transferred to the Trans National Organised Crime Unit.

Gigiri’s DCIO Peter Kiboro was promoted to the County Criminal Investigations Officer and taken to Nyamira County while Langata’s Samuel Kobina was transferred to Nyanza on promotion as the county boss.

Other reshuffles made by the DCI affected Nairobi Central, Kasarani, Buruburu, Kilimani, Langata and Ngong where Amin posted new DCIOs.

Robert Mureithi will now serve as Nairobi Central DCIO while Jimmy Kimaru, Daniel Musangi, Daniel Ngetich, David Cheruiyot, Abdurashid Yakub and Charles Kimalate were transferred to Kasarani, Ngong, Buruburu, Starehe, Kilimani, and Langata as their respective DCIOs.

These changes were made shortly after the DCI reorganized the Anti-Counterfeit and Contrabands Goods Police Unit assembled by his predecessor George Kinoti in 2018.

The anti-counterfeit team was tasked with dealing with contraband goods that are said to have found their way into the market.

When Amin took over as DCI boss, he promised to make drastic changes at the Kiambu Road headquarters to enhance service delivery.

During his swearing-in, he further pledged to oversee a brand new era at the directorate.
