Yesterday 25th April Bungoma governor Wangamati attended the silver jubilee celebration of Reverend Father Augustine Barasa in Kimwanga Parish Bungoma County.
He congratulated him for diligently serving God's people for 25 years. He said, "You have been a good example as a religious leader in this region. As a governor I will continue supporting you."
He asked Father Barasa to allow him award church ministers for their good work. He gave the catechists Ksh 10, 000, choir members Ksh 30, 000, sisters Ksh 10, 000 and the parish council Ksh 15, 000.
The governor talked about the kimilili lady who had a growth on her face. Mike Sonko offered to cater for the medical bills and the growth was successfully removed.
Coincidentally there was another lady identified as Nancy Wanyama in the congregation who had the same problem.
Governor Wangamati offered to take her to Bungoma referral hospital to have the growth removed.
He said, "Waziri Walela tukitoka hapa tutaenda na mama huyu hospitali ya Bungoma atibiwe na kwa neema ya Mungu arudi kama ako sawa."
This gesture earned him applauses and praises from the congregation. He promised to organise a medical camp with doctors to help people with similar conditions.
