More Details Develop Regarding On Ofafa Jericho School Fire

New details have arisen on the Monday, September 20, school fire that left 50 students of Ofafa Jericho High School hospitalized.

A police report seen by showed that preceding the occurrence, the teacher on duty mobilized students to go to evening preps however some opposed the order and stayed in the hostel.

On seeing this, the teacher on duty returned and constrained them out. One student, notwithstanding, sneaked back and burnt one cube which houses 20 students "A few students properties and belongings were annihilated. Staff and a portion of the students assisted put off the fire before it spread to other cubes," reads the police report partially.

The police report demonstrates that investigations are in progress even as they attempt to find out if   there were other accomplices to the wrongdoing.

At least 50 students experienced extreme smoke inhalation while extinguishing the fire. They were subsequently admitted at the Metropolitan Hospital in Buruburu, Nairobi.

Metropolitan Hospital Chief Executive Officer, Dr Kanyenje Gakombe, however expressed that no student got consume wounds. "We received 50 young men reported to have been in a fire incident at their school. They attempted to extinguish the fire and, in the process, breathed in the smoke. A large portion of them have endured smoke inhalation attacks," he expressed.

Moreover, Gakombe noticed that a few students would require confirmation at the medical clinic for 24 hours for checking yet noticed that every one of them were out of risk.

In recent weeks, there has been a worrying pattern of school fires and property destruction resulting to enormous losses as far as infrastructure. Since the start of August, learning has been stopped briefly in various schools because of disturbances.
