Kabete Shooting: Kangemi Resident Reveals What One Innocent Victim Had Done Day Before Incident

In the aftermath of the saddening shooting/homicide incident that occured at Kabete in Dagoretti South Constituency in the wake of today on December 7th, details have emerged on one of the victims of the incident as protests rock Kangemi.

Taking to the streets of Kangemi in the morning of today to react to the incident and demand attention of the relevant authorities as well as justice for the victims, some Kabete residents have revealed the sad story of one youth who was killed by the officer.

The residents who spoke on camera during those protests said that one victim was just a mere deejay who was a pillar in his community/estate, helping in various activities like burial fundraisers in addition to entertaining locals.

That "huyo kijana alikuwa DJ. Hata jana alikuwa amechangisha pesa za matanga halafu anamuua na kushoot vijana saba.

Why did he shoot the youth?" An angry protester asked before proceeding to Waiyaki Way where they had planned to hold mega demonstrations.

It is said that the shooting incident occured at 1am today by a police officer whose name is Benson Imbatu and who was living at J Heights Apartments near the aforementioned Kangemi Market with his wife identified as Carol.

On the eventful night, it's reported that Imbatu's neighbour heard a loud bang from their house and ran to report the incident to the Kabete Police Station, a move that prompted other Kabete police officers proceed to the scene to fathom what was happening.

That upon arriving at the house, the officers found that Imbatu had shot his wife in the neck then left the house in a police patrol vehicle to go on a shooting spree.

That while on the road, Imbatu who was a constable and in possession of an AK 47 gun shot and killed five people including two bodaboda riders and that deejay.

That there were also two other people that sustained gunshot injuries in the aftermath of his shooting spree and are currently undergoing treatment at the Kenyatta National Hospital.

Upon finishing his shooting spree, its reported that Imbatu committed suicide by shooting himself in the neck.

At the time of writing this article, protests were still ongoing at Kabete and had led to a traffic snarl up along Waiyaki Way and other roads.
