Panic As 9 Prisoners Escape Police Custody In Bomet A Week After 14 Others Escaped Nanyuki Prison

The cases is prisoners escaping correctional facility are on upward trend. On several occasions, cases of convicted prisoners escaping police Custody in Kenya has been reported causing panic and havoc among the members of public.

"BREAKING: 9 prisoners escape from police custody in Bomet County, Kenya," read the statement.

This comes barely a week after 14 prisoners escaped from Nanyuki maximum prison last week. Eight were since recuptured and police are still looking for six who are yet to be recuptured.

The leaders led by Commissioner General of Prisons Wycliffe Ogallo visited Nanyuki GK Prison to assess the situation. Ogolla assured the public the Service is committed to safeguarding the prisoners in safe custody and that all measures will be taken to avoid a repeat of such an incident.

Today incident now leaves many questions on safety of prisons in the country. How are prisoners getting it easy to escape from correctional facilities is the question that is now lingering in minds of many Kenyan.
