His Excellency the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has released the paybill that Kenyans will use to contribute to help the National Drought Response Committee mitigate effects of drought in the country.
The Deputy President who is leading the National Drought Response Steering Committee released the PayBill and bank account details that will allow Kenyans to donate cash to assist those impacted by the ongoing drought.
He has noted that those wishing to donate to the appeal fund can do so via M-PESA PayBill 880990 and entering their names as the account number or alternatively use the National Drought Mitigation Appeal Fund through the Kenya Commercial Bank Riverside Branch, ACC. NO. 1305486137.
The steering committee, which reports to the Deputy President, will also support interventions to protect affected populations from the effects of the ongoing drought, such as the cash transfer program.
Last week, His Excellency the Head of State President William Ruto formed the National Drought Response Steering Committee and it is normally chaired by Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa.
The committee's formation was necessitated by the need to institutionalise the framework for mobilizing additional resources to address the worsening drought impacts.
