Kiambu Residents Expose Negligence as Ropes Are Still Used To Cross The Dangerous Thika River.

It is shameful to show government failures in a county associated with the head of state. For over 23 years since the bridge on a section of Thika River was swept away by the famous El Nino rains. Residents of Ngoliba crossing to Kwa Jimmie have suffered. The government has not done anything for all this year's and learders have kept empty promises.

This crocodile and hoppo infested river is too dangerous to cross using the rope and boats something which has seen several drown and disappear never to be seen again. Boats operating in this river charge kshs 50 one way to cross something which has continued to impoverish the people.

The county government as well as the national government has kept dumb about the issue as residents are left without any option. Pieces of what once stood as a bridge have been left standing to date, connections made by the people have borne no fruits as many people continue to die in the river. Using Motorbikes from Kwa Jimmie to Ngoliba is now ksh 250. This caters for transportation for the less than three kilometre distance and boat charges. The two towns have the economic potential as they lie within Murang'a and Kiambu counties respectively.
