A tragic road accident involving a Tuktuk and a Motorcycle was witnessed in the Kibaoni area along the Mombasa Malindi road, Kilifi. The accident that took place on Saturday evening at around 6: 00 PM, left two victims with severe head and limb injuries. Kimani, an eyewitness, who spoke to Scooper News said the accident happened after the Tuktuk driver attempted to take a U- turn on the busy road.
" The Tuktuk was on the side of the road where it had dropped some passengers. Since the driver wanted to make a U- turn, I saw him countercheck the road. There was an over- speeding Bodaboda which was carrying the motorcyclist and another person, " narrated Kimani.
" Surprisingly, the Tuktuk driver still attempted to take a U- turn and that is where the Bodaboda rammed on the Tuktuk, " he added. Both the motorcyclist and the person who was carried suffered serious injuries that left blood oozing from their heads and limbs profusely. Passerbys however offered the two victims first aid before another drama ensured.
The victims were abandoned after the Tuktuk driver tried to escape the scene. Kibaoni residents couldn' t withhold their anger after noticing this and decided to discipline the Tuktuk driver first. The incident was however calmed after traffic police arrived at the scene after noticing the unusual traffic on the road. The victims were taken to Mephi Hospital, Kilifi while both the Tuktuk and Motorcycle were taken to Kilifi Police Post.
Residents have complained of the reckless Tuktuk drivers who occupy a larger percentage of the Mombasa Malindi road users. This is not the first case as the road records accidents involving Tuktuks almost every week. What do you think about the issue of reckless driving?
