The proposed upgrade of Gilgil Town to a municipality has been unanimously welcomed by residents and leaders as an anticipated gamechanger that would invigorate the areas economic growth.
Following the endorsement during the three-day Public Participation, focus now shifts to Governor Lee Kinyanjui and the County Assembly whether they will approve elavation as proposed by majority residents.
According to the chair of Adhoc Committee on proposed elavation of Gilgil Kahindu Waitindi, the reception and input was good.
Others were small scale traders such as taxi drivers and boda boda operators, professionals, politicians and business community.
If upgraded, the town will receive additional Kshs. 100 million yearly that would be used to tarmack roads, build drainage and general infrastructure of the area.

The forthcoming construction of Rironi-Mau Summit Super Highway is set to create jobs and markets to residents.
