The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has this evening revealed details of a kidnapping that happened on Saturday when a mother and her son were in church.

The mother, identified as Regina Boyani, went to church at the Kware Central Seventh Day Adventist Church with her 6-year-old son, Collins Orina.

At the church, Orina remained outside to play with his friend while his mother continued worshiping in church as is the norm.

Unsuspecting to Regina Boyani, a kidnapper was lurking outside and lured the two boys from where they were playing with the promise of buying them french fries.

One of the boys was given five shillings and managed to escape the trap of the kidnappers while they went away with the young Collins Orina.

The mother, learning that her son had been taken, rushed to Embakasi Police Station where she filed a missing child report at the front desk.

Detectives got busy and within no time, they had traced the young boy as to where he was being held by his kidnapper in Area 10 of Mathare Estate.

It is reported by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations that the case had been escalated to the Special Service Unit.

The boy was rescued and reunited with his mother as two men, identified as James Bindi Mabeya and Ezekiel Nyamawi Nyakundi were arrested and taken into custody.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations is urging members of the public to be vigilant as child kidnapping cases have been on the rise.
