CIPU Police Commander Gabriel Wanjala Died While Detonating Explosive at Tulow Oil Facility

A Police commander from Critical Infrastructure Protection Unit (C.I.P.U), Gabriel Wanjala, has died while detonating explosive at Tullow Oil facility in Turkana

Another man also escaped with serious injures in the incident that happened at Kasepur camp yesterday evening.

Police statements revealed that the deceased, Gabriel Wanjala, was among the group of bomb experts hired to detonate the explosive at the camp surrounded by the Tullow Oil Company.

The explosives were being operated by the multinational oil and gas exploration company during the mining process.

A preliminary facts to this desk indicated that the ballistic experts didn't used the correct procedure for destroying the explosives.

While sending their messages of condolences to the bereaved family, locals of Lokichar revealed that they have lost a friend who served locals with good heart.

The body of the commander was transferred to Lodwar Referral Hospital pending autopsy while the injured victim was evacuated to Nairobi for specialized medical treatment.
