A local news site has reported that a young man has lost his life after drowning in Kiahuria dam located in Witeithie ward, Juja sub-county.
It is also reported that the area MCA is on the ground trying to marshall support from all quarters to have his body retrieved.
According to reports, this is not the first time that such an incident has happened inside the same dam. After this latest incident happened the residents who live near the dam have been asking how many people must die for a fence to be erected around the dam.
One of the factors that may hinder the attempt to retrieve the body is that the incident happened just as it was getting dark. The divers will require specialised equipments that will enable them to see in the dark while still underwater or they could wait untill daybreak to start the operation to retrieve the body.
Lastly, the area around the dam should be fenced to prevent any such incident from happening ever again. It is indeed very sad to lose such young lives especially in avoidable circumstances.
