“Hauta Niwachia ya Chai?” What Woman With a Baby Did After Seeing DP Ruto Walking in Mombasa

Deputy President William Ruto took Mombasa residents by surprise when he strolled in the streets in Nyali Constituency accompanied by local leaders.

Ruto’s bodyguards were nearby when a woman carrying a baby came running towards the DP as she passed his bodyguard who did not try to stop her.

Ruto had already seen the woman coming towards him and he went to greet her before taking the baby and lifting the baby up amid claps and cheers from leaders and area residents.

The mother is heard telling Ruto that the baby belongs to a hustler, “ni wa hustler” as the DP laughed before the woman invited Ruto to her shop.

The women entered the shop and Ruto followed together with a few of the leaders and bodyguards as the trader showed the DP she sells bags and other items.

Ruto in response said, “Unauza mali hapa?” but quickly stopped her as she was explaining her business and then said he has a busy schedule saying he will come to the shop some other day.

The second in command lifted the baby up again before handing the baby to the woman and as he was walking out, the woman shouted, “Hauta niwachia ya chai hustler?” as she followed the DP.

Ruto is heard telling one of his assistance to give the woman Sh5,000, “Tafuta elfu tano uwachie huyu mama (Look for Sh5,000 and give to this woman).

One person in the video is then heard telling the woman to not follow the DP saying she should stand at her shop and someone will bring the money to her.

“Don’t move, just stand there and someone will give you the money,” said the man as Ruto continued with his tour.
