On Monday, Dagoretti police detained a robbery suspect and found a handmade weapon.
A group of police officers from the Dagoretti Subcounty were tasked with intercepting the suspect after obtaining intelligence, according to the National Police Service.
They claimed that after being stopped at the Delta Petrol Station in Kawangare 46, the man "took the officers to his house."
The police discovered many items during their investigation of the home.
They listed several weapons, including a machete, a handmade handgun that could fire, a Nokia phone that was allegedly stolen, a tear gas grenade, a Samsung tablet, and more.
NPS said that the male adult suspect was subsequently taken into custody and booked pending arraignment.
Preliminary investigations lead them to believe that the suspect and his male accomplice, who is still at large, are connected to a previous heist that took place on the morning of December 26, they added.
According to NPS, the identical event had also been reported to the Waithaka Police Station.
"We thank the public for the tip that resulted in the arrest and recovery of the items," they stated.
