Martha Kibowen, Form 3 student at Kabulwo Secondary who was yesterday shot dead by bandits from Tiaty.
He together with an adult was herding livestock when a group of armed bandits suspected to be from the Pokot community ambushed and shot them dead.
The bandits then drove away about 234 goats towards Tiaty.
Confirming the incident, Baringo County Police boss Peter Ndung'u said his officers were tracing for the bandits.
Mr Ndung'u added that the officers were also liaising with local chiefs to recover the stolen animals.
Tension is high in the area and hundreds of locals who had returned to their homes were now fleeing to safer places for fear of more attacks.
The body of the deceased was transferred to the hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
