Three Suspects Arrested while Transporting 20 Sacks Of Mandrax To Malindi Town

Three suspects were on Friday morning arrested by police while transporting 20 sacks of Mandrax to Malindi town, Kilifi County.

Kilifi County police commander Ali Bakari who confirmed the arrest said the officers were acting on a tip-off from locals who spotted the trio divert to Malindi town at around 11am.

The three were identified as Jecton Okach, Kelly Nyawira and Collins Oak. They are accused of transporting mandrax concealed in 20 sacks without a licence.

The contraband items are said to have been imported from a local farmers in Nanyuki town the country according to police reports.

The arrest of the three suspects come only two days when police apprehended two suspects while transporting counterfeit cigarettes to Nakuru town.

Police said the seized Mandrax are estimated to be worth Kshs54miilion shillings.

The three are currently held at Malindi town police station awaiting their arraignment in court.
