Nairobi: Three Policemen Arrested For Aiding Escape From Lawful Custody

Three policemen have been arrested by regional criminal investigations officers (RCIO's) for aiding escape from lawful custody in Jogoo Road Police Station, Kamukunji, Nairobi County.

According to police OB No.13/10/2021 reports obtained the press, police inspector Philip Mbithi, Police Constable Kamakia Mutuma Boniface and Precious Mwende Mwinzi all attached to Jogoo Police station were nabbed by officers attached to RCIO’s Nairobi headquarters.

The three policemen are accused of aiding escape from lawful custody and dodging their duties which is against Section 124 and 128 of the penal code.

They are to be arraigned and charged in court following escape of the serial killer Mulimu Wanjala on Tuesday night 12/13/10/2021 who had been held at Jogoo Road Police Station following a multiple of killing cases.

Police said Wanjala was to appear in court for another mention of some of his investigation cases when the incident took place.

Police officers who were on duty noted they learned that Wanjala went missing at around 7 am as they were carrying out head count.

"The suspect was to appear before court on 13/10/2021 through a miscellenious criminal application No. 633/2021," police report read in part.
