This machine that is introduced from Dubai uses the latest technology to treat pelvic floor dysfunction, a condition that that doctors say causes urine or stool leakage.
Simaton Kumomoru, a physiotherapist, who is accredited to have started the Pelvic Floor Neo-control Centre in Nairobi told Nation that “I saw the chair in a Dubai medical fair and thought about my sister who had complications after giving birth and the many women who are affected by incontinence and decided to invest in bringing this technology home,” she says.
She explained that the magnetic chair uses uses Extracorporeal Magnetic Innervation (ExMI) or magnetic fields to contract all the pelvic floor muscles to build strength and endurance.
Ms Alice Nyambura, a consultant physiotherapist at the centre, also added that the chair can also be used to tone the reproductive organ leading to benefits like increased strength of orgasms. For men she says that those suffering from erectile dysfunction have poor nerve stimulation and blood flow will also benefit from the chair.
She adds that patients may require monthly or annual sessions depending on the severity of their condition.
