Prepare for Heavy Rains From 4th to 10th October 2022 if You Live in the Following Parts of Kenya


The month of October has started off in a high note as most parts of the country have experienced changes in weather patterns with heavy rains being witnessed across the country. The Kenya Meteorological Department has provided update on the expected weather forecasting changes expected over several parts of the country from 4th to 10th October 2022.

The meteorological department has been working hard in providing accessible meteorological and climatological information to the general public in accordance with the World Meteorological Organization.

In the latest development, rainfall is expected to continue over some parts in the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Central Rift Valley and the Highlands East of the Rift Valley.

Detailed forecast;


1.The Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Central and South Rift Valley;(Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, West Pokot, Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Busia, Migori, Baringo, Nakuru and Narok counties,

Morning rains accompanied with afternoon showers and thunderstorms are expected over several parts throughout the forecast period. Evening as well as night showers are also expected over several parts during the forecast period.

2.Intermittent cloudiness during the morning hours giving a chance to sunny intervals is expected over the Highlands East of the Rift Valley including Nairobi County,(Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka Nithi and Nairobi counties.

Afternoon showers are likely to occur over a few days. Nights are likely to be generally partly cloudy though occasional showers may occur over a few places.

3.Occasional morning and afternoon showers are expected over the South Eastern Lowlands and the Coastal Strip, (Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, Taita Taveta, Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale counties).
