A woman is recovering after her husband, a police officer assigned to the Kabras police station in Kakamega County, assaulted her. The woman, 31, alleged her husband assaulted her while she inquired about his car's location. “This isn't the first time he's assaulted me; he's done it before,” the survivor, who is being treated at Royo Hospital in Malava town, said.
Kakamega North Police Commander Paul Mwenda confirmed the incident and said the matter is being investigated. “If it is true that the officer raped her, we will take appropriate measures against him to ensure that the hospital bill is paid,” he said. The woman was admitted with vaginal bleeding and lost her pregnancy this is according to a clinical officer at the hospital. This comes days after CS Matiang'i ordered that the Kenya police service should be engaging in relationships and marriage as these love issues in the service end badly.
