Exactly two years since the second governor of Bomet county Dr. Joyce Laboso passed away, Laboso died on 29th July 2019, she had been sickling and at a point she seemed to have recovered, however, the disease struck her again severely in March 2019. The family sought medical attention both in the UK and India, unfortunately, the doctors informed them that the governor had Died.
Laboso died aged 58, she left behind two kids and a widower Edwin Abonyo. She was a Jubilee member, successfully unseated incumbent Isaac Rutto of Chama Cha Mashinani, however, she never served her constituents as she had planned. Hillary Barchork then took over as the county's boss.
Indeed the people of Bomet dearly miss the soft-spoken leader, in the tribute message from the county assembly, the county has opened up on the difficulty they've been going through since Laboso left, however they have assured her in her death that they are determined to serve the county as she desired.
"But amidst this, your foundation, your call for servant leadership and your dream for our county has continued to inspire it's leaders and residents to march on" reads part of the statement.
