It is alleged that, the 32-year-old Daisy Chepkirui threw her four-year-old son, Briton Kiprono, into the dam on Tuesday morning.
Confirming the incident, Sabatia Chief Roy Kibet said the suspect committed the tragic incident earlier today.
Members of the public retrieved the body of the child which had no visible of injuries.
The suspect said the stress led her to commit the heinous act and she was arrested and she being detained at Koibatek police station awaiting murder charges in a court of law.
The baby's body was taken to the Eldama Ravine Sub County Hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy to determine the cause of death.
There have been many murder cases in Kenya involving members of one family in various parts of the country.
If the accused is found guilty over murder charges in a court of law, the accused is liable to imprisonment for life.
