A monster cycloned has slammed into west India compounding the misery for millions of others who are enduring a devastating corona virus surge
Atleast 21 people have been reported to be dead and another 96 people are missing according to the reports that were given Tuesday.
The deadly weather condition has hindered the country's embattle to a corona virus surge that is killing atleast 4000 citizens daily and thus pushing the health system to a breaking point.
The airport was also closed for several hours and people requested to stay indooors as huge waves battered the city's sea front.
However due to better forecasting which allowed for better preparation,more than 200000 residents were evacuated from their homes.
According to the defence ministry,a total of 177 people were rescued from the vessel however the operations are expected to continue despite the challenging sea conditions.
Authorities are however scrambling to ensure that there is power supply in the nearly 400 designated covid19 hospitals and 41 oxygen plants in the area.
Accordingto to the chief minister Vijay Rupani more than 1000 hospitals in the coastal towns had been provided with generators.
