The body of Agnes Jebet Tirop was found in her bed with stab wounds in the abdomen and neck while socked in blood.
Police begun investigations immediately, and it seems like they have got a suspect. Surprisingly, the husband of Agnes Jebet Tirop is the major suspect of her murder.
According to Kenyans.co.ke news reports, the parents of Agnes Tirop's husband told police officers that he contacted them while in tears and asked for forgiveness which left them stunned.
"Alarmed by the statements, police officers resulted to visiting their house. When they got inside, they found Tirop on the bed with blood all over. She had been stabbed on her neck," Keiyo South OCPD Tim Makori told the reporters.
Neighbours of Agnes Jebet Tirop told the police that the couple had wrangles and she might have gone for her belongings which got her murdered.
The husband has gone into hiding as it is claimed that he is the main suspect of killing the athlete. "We are looking for him and are hoping that he can tell us what really transpired." The police boss concluded.
