On Tuesday morning in Homa Bay Sub County, a 24 year old man hacked his grandmother to death.
According to reports, the young man used an axe to attack his grandmother, identified as Priscila Olumbe, while she was sleeping. After committing the heinous act, the man then proceeded to kill his grandmother's goats, cows and injured her donkey. It is also reported that the man tried to attack his young relative, a class 7 pupil, but fortunately, the young girl managed to escape by jumping through a window.
Currently, the suspect is at Homa Bay Police Station where he is being detained while police conduct investigations. According to the police, they have not yet established a motive that explains why the young man committed the crime. However, police have speculated that the young man may be suffering from a mental illness in addition to being epileptic. In the meantime, investigations are underway.
