Cases of Child defilement and teenage pregnancies have been on the rise since the COVID 19 pandemic that struck the country in early 2020.
Trans Nzoia police authority from Sirende Police station have arrested a 58-year-old man alleged to have defiled at least seven children aged between 3 and 10 on diverse dates in December 2021.The suspect works as a herdsman at a local school.
He allegedly lured the children into his house using money, biscuits and other material items, police said.Five parents of the children had filed police reports alleging that the minors had been defiled.
On Saturday, January 8, police tracked down the suspect to his house located within a primary school compound, and arrested him.
He is being held in custody at the Sirende Police Station pending arraignment on Monday, January 10.
