Kuria West Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo earlier today issued a formal statement to the press regarding the arrest of 10 Individuals who acted against the Ministry of Health’s directives on prevention and containment measures of the spread of Covid-19.
The ten were arrested after they were caught drinking last night at a local bar in Isebania, Kuria West Sub County Migori County. Among the ten was a bar attendant aged 20 years who will be charged with an additional offense of contravening the president’s directive on the ban of selling alcohol.
Mr. Kimaiyo said that the individuals who were arrested last night will be arraigned in court as soon as possible so that they can serve as a lesson to others who are flouting the Covid-19 protocols. He warned that anyone who is disregarding the Covid-19 prevention and containment measures is bound to be arrested and it is only a matter of time until the authorities catch up to them.
He further reiterated the warning by saying that no one will be spared by the police, be it a national figure or a homeless person, the police will ensure that the lawbreakers will face the repercussions for going against the Covid rules.
The owner of the unlicensed bar managed to escape but Mr. Kimaiyo assured the public that his days are numbered. “He can run but he won’t be able to hide. I assure you that we will apprehend him soon if not later.”
