He said the discos are nowadays taking place even During weddings stating how criminals are taking advantage of the ceremonies.
The Statement by the commissioner comes one month after the cabinet secretary for public service and gender Aisha Jumwa said that the ban had been lifted.
In her statement, she complained that the ban which was introduced in 2019 had killed many businesses in the area.
While lifting the ban, She asked the police to instead of collecting money from owners of the businesses arrest the minors who attend such events and detain them until their parents come for them. This is because minors aren't allowed to attend such functions.
On his part, Tanui noted that discos contribute to teenage pregnancy and insecurity in places where they take place.
He asked the Political leaders in the area to cooperate and ensure that disco matanga events don't take place.
