A contingent of police officers stationed in Eldoret town raided a rented house in Elgon View estate within the precincts of Eldoret township busting an ongoing drugs syndicate and also bringing to light the extremes unscrupulous Kenyans are willing to go just to perpetrate an illegality.
During the successful intelligence led operation on two buildings within a lone compound, dozens of potted bhang plants were discovered. 21 cannabis plants were well stationed in the main bedroom, 68 in the sitting room, 14 in the dining room, 26 in an adjacent iron sheet walled house and assorted personal documents.
All the plants have since been uprooted after having been documented by Eldoret based directorate of criminal investigations scenes of crime personnel.
The weight of the plants was established to be 33.5 Kgs with an estimated street value of about one million Kenya Shillings.
Preliminary investigations have linked a man identified as Kipchumba Michael Kibet to the racketeering. A heightened manhunt has since been launched with intentions to arrest the main suspect and bring him to justice.
Police are now appealing to the public to surrender any vital information that can lead to the arrest of the suspect. The public was also cautioned against involving themselves in criminal activities.
