Curfew Lifted: Big Winners and Losers After President Uhuru's Mashujaa Day Directive

President Uhuru Kenyatta has today, 20 October 2021, lifted the nationwide dusk to dawn curfew that has been around for months

The curfew was announced on 27 March 2021 as one of the measures to curb the spread of the deadly virus.

Kenyans have been taking to social media to beg the head of state to lift the curfew by saying it was economically affecting them, and today, their cries were answered by Uhuru Kenyatta.

He made the big announcement during the celebrations of Mashuajaa Day, which was held in Kirinyaga County.

Now we dig deeper into the possible outcomes after the lifting of the curfew

It is obvious so many things are going to change, and many people are going to benefit more than others because of the lifting of the curfew.

Others are probably going to lose more than anyone else.

Big winners

Big winners are club owners

Night club operations have switched to their normal gear operations, it is going to be party after party the whole night, with club owners reaping much than before.

Music DJs are also going to be very active without curfew restrictions

Bar owners

Just like bar owners, bars will also be opening till late at night and make more profit.

Showing are coming through when the curfew is not there

Public transport

Public transport is also going to have more by moving overnight and maximise on profit-making

Big losers

Apart from those who will be making a killing by operating business overnight, some police officers are going to be big losers. Some officers have been making a killing by arresting curfew offenders and releasing them by making them part ways with some cash.

When the curfew was introduced, some wives celebrated because their husbands had to cancel all their fishy night parties and return home before 10 pm. It is likely the same husbands will start returning home past midnight.
