A student from Kisii University hanged himself on Tuesday night sparking uproar on social media.
The lifeless body a first year clinical medicine student was found today dangling inside his room. According to his the witness, he a Suicide note addressing lack of money probably for upkeep, lacking food and he has been neglected by his family.
Though the allegations in the note are yet to be ascertained, investigations into the matter have began. It is disheartening to see young man who had years of potential life lost (YPLL) of over 50 years. A medic who would have been so resourceful not only to his Community but to the country as whole.
University Students called for speedy investigation from university's administration and all stakeholders to unravel the mystery which propelled one of their to commit suicide.
Could it be that parents are neglecting their children that is driving them to have suicidal thoughts?
It is quite disturbing to witness such given that nearly all tertiary learning institutions have guidance and counseling department. Does it mean that such department are there for formalities? Or students themselves are the one to be blamed for not seeking counseling in time of need and depressing moments?
Students have also urged the institution to gather 100% for burial expenses citing that his death ain't normal and the real cause must be unraveled.
