A senior police officer from Busia County has succumbed to breathing difficulties.
The officer started experiencing breathing problems on Tuesday night while at his rented house in Bulanda village.
The deceased was then rushed to Tanaka hospital where he passed on while undergoing treatment in the facility.
According to a police report filed at Busia Police Station, Julius Tonui, an Inspector of Police (IP) attached to the Mayenje police post had issues with his breathing systems before he was rushed to hospital.
Unfortunately, the officer did not make it out of the hospital alive, he passed on.
According to the source, the officer was diabetic and had just been treated and discharged from the hospital a week ago.
Police investigating his death have moved his body to a mortuary pending postmortem to determine what caused his death.
"The officer had been treated for diabetes and pressure a week ago at the same facility. The body moved to Tanaka hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem," read police's report in part.
