An 11-year-old boy died after drowning in Manyazaani River,mwala sub county of Machakos county
The boy died after getting stuck in the mud while swimming.
The incident was confirmed by Yathui location chief Stephen Musyoka who said that the river borders two sublocations Kwakala and Kyangulumi.
He noted that the bit has been sent to fetch water in the morning when he decided to swim.
While swimming he got stuck in the mud and drowned.
He warned parents against sending their children to water sources unaccompanied to avoid the happenings.
"Today morning there was an accident, a little boy who has gone to fetch water drowned. This water is ours and has profit for us but can be a tragedy, let's be careful and avoid sending our kids to these water sources unaccompanied by adults," said the chief.
"Not only in this sand dam but several in other areas let's protect our kids and avoid accidents while looking for development" he added.
The body of the bit was retrieved and taken to Machakos level dive hospital mortuary for preservation.
