Police in Kirinyaga County have arrested 45-year-old James Muchira and his wife for keeping the remains of his late mother in the house.
The couple was apprehended after the man's relatives, led by his brother Evans Mwaniki, requested assistance from authorities.
Neighbors reported that the man and his wife barred anyone from entering their home, which also serves as a church called "God's Mountain of Believers." When police officers entered the couple's home, they discovered a decomposed body.
Details indicate that the suspect's mother was receiving treatment at a hospital before he took her to his home church to, ostensibly, pray for her.
