A Civilian Robbed By A Police Officer In Broad Daylight

A Tuk tuk driver has reported to Kabati Police Station in Murang’a about an incident of police misconduct.

From his statement, the police officer stopped him and demanded for Sh. 2000 as a bribe but when the complainant stood his ground and refused, the accused snatched Sh. 300 that the driver was holding then roughed him up and took an extra Sh. 800 from his pockets.

Once the statement was booked, OCS and a few officers proceeded to the scene of the event and arrested the said officer who is currently in custody.

It is one of the many misconduct cases that have been seen among the police. Yesterday, the 6 officers suspected to be responsible for the death of Emmanuel and Benson Ndwiga in Embu were arraigned in Milimani Law Court and will be detained for 14 days as further investigations are being conducted.

The public is pushing for accountability and justice on all police officers involved in brutality and bribery in their daily operations.
