Trouble for DPP Haji as Move to Remove Him From Office is Launched

Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Noordin Haji could be out of office soon if a case filed against him is successful.

According to reports, the Late Tob Cohen's family lawyers led by Danstan Omari and Cliff Ombeta this morning filed a petition before the Public Service Commission seeking Haji's removal from office over the conduct of the high profile case.

In a court application dated September 29th, the family had accused the DPP of impeding justice by failing to charge Court of Appeal judge Sankale ole Kantai for the murder of Cohen.

In his defence, Haji disclosed reasons he declined to charge Sankale ole Kantai over the murder of businessman Cohen and said after reviewing the file forwarded by the DCI, he established that the evidence gathered by detectives amounted to suspicions and assumptions but had nothing to place the judge in the murder plot.

The family of the late Cohen, through their lawyers, are accusing DPP Haji of mishandling the murder case of their kin and mishandling other cases among them Direct Line Assurance Limited and the Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (KEMSA) case.

Tob Cohen’s family also claims to have been locked out of the correspondence between DCI and DPP in the lead-up to the clearing of justice Kantai’s name.
