Superintendent of police Sir Nyawa Murinzi has been found dead inside his house under unknown circumstances in Mpeketoni, Lamu County.
The officer's body was discovered by his neighbours who later notified the police
The already decomposing body was discovered at around 2pm lying beside his bed, with gunshot wounds in his stomach and his gun planted on his hand.
The security officers who toured the scene said he may have been killed before the gun planted on his hands.
Before his death, he was currently the Lamu sub county Police Commander.
His body was transferred to the Coast General hospital morgue pending autopsy.

Lamu County Police Commander Moses Muriithi who confirmed the incident said his deaths remains mystery as they are still waiting for the postmortem report from the hospital so as to ascertain the cause of his death.
The police boss said Kenya Police sends condolences to the family and friends.
