The plush Muthaiga Estate is on the news again after a vicious armed robbery was reported months after a similar incident happened. The latest incident has shocked residents as the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers try to crack the gang that has been terrorizing the rich neighborhood.
According to The People Daily digital news platform, the heavily guarded estate is coincidentally the official residence of the former president Mwai Kibaki whose neighbor Dr. Manu Chandaria and celebrated industrialist was a victim of the gang few weeks ago. The recent incident has left the Nairobi security apparatus in dismay concerning the temerity of the latest attack where armed criminals attacked an adjacent neighbor to Mwai Kibaki.
Reports filed at Muthaiga police station indicate that the gang struck at the residence of millionaire businessman Patel and carted away 20 million in cash and a similar amount worth of jewelry. No suspects have been arrested as detectives try to investigate how the gang bypassed heavy General Service Unit (GSU) officers manning the estate.
