Mbagathi road traffic police officer Bernard Wamalwa who confirmed the incident said the Wednesday accident happened few miles past Mbagathi Way Flats just within the Mbagathi road.
The Wednesday morning accident involved a Nissan and a lorry that was ferrying bags of maize to Ngong from Nairobi CBD.
According to Bernard, the Nissan matatu was ferrying passengers to Dandora from country bus stage when the accident happened.
"The lorry was transporting bags of maize transporting bags of maize to Ngong from Nairobi CBD. The Nissan matatu was overspeeding before it lost control, veered off the road and collided head-on with the oncoming lorry," Bernard said.
He added, "The Wednesday morning accident claimed three lives on the spot. It is sad. The three casualties, all men were going to Dandora after boarding the Nissan from country bus."
Their corpse were transferred to Montezuma Monalisa Funeral Home for postmortem.
The two motorvehicle wreckages were towed to Hardy police station pending police investigations.
