People are increasingly living in fear of criminal elements that prey on them, causing death, injury, and destruction of property. This is a reality that is all too familiar for many people, as they go about their daily lives, wondering when the next attack will come.
Several armed bandits were seen emerging from a thicket in a calculated move to carry out an attack. Gunshots rented the air as the bandits made their move, causing panic and chaos among those who were nearby. One man, Mr James Lokwawi, 45, who is nursing a bullet wound at the Lodwar County Referral Hospital, North Rift, witnessed the attack firsthand.
"I first saw several armed bandits emerging from a thicket in a calculated move to ambush herders whose livestock were feeding on seed pods from Acacia trees. I ran back to the house as gunshots rented the air," said Mr James Lokwawi.
The prevalence of insecurity in North Rift is a reflection of deeper problems that require a concerted effort to address.
