
Two teenagers have been killed by an explosive in Mandera. The two reportedly herding their family livestock, came across a metallic device and picked it up which later exploded, killing them on the spot. The two mistook the device for an old metallic tube, according to Mandera Paramount Chief Issack Adawa Edo alias Chief Borow, before it exploded after being hit on a tree by one of the victims. "According to the information we have so far, it was an old explosive. It was rusted "Chief Adawa stated over the phone.
The incident happened at 11:00 am and caused panic at Corner S settlement along Elwak Wargadud road, as the area remains a terror in Mandera county. The two, identified as Hamza Aliow, 18 and Adan Ali Hassan, 16 have been buried as per Islamic Religious rites. The Deputy County Commissioner Mounda Nyamboga called on residents and herders to be cautious should they come across an unusual foreign metallic objects.
