Four people died while six others sustained serious injuries in a road accident involving four vehicles along Thika road, Nairobi County.
Confirming the incident, Thika road traffic Police Commander Samson Ole Morinket said the accident occurred when a Nissan matatu Mark traveling from Nairobi town direction was trying to overtake a lorry when the accident happened.
The Nissan later rammed into a Toyota Wish car with two people on board and eventually hit a Nairobi Shuttle that was traveling was parked beside the road, killing two occupants of the Toyota Wish car on the spot.
"The accident was due to the driver's negligence because there are road signs and marked lanes was, showing the motorist should not exceed certain limitsd,” Samson said.
Four passengers who were onboard the Nissan Matatu and two others from the Shuttle are receiving treatment at Ruaraka Uhai Neema hospital.
"The Nissan was moving at a high speed, the driver seemed to have feared before the accident happened. We are investigating,” he added.
The bodies of the four deceased were transferred to Jomo Kenyatta University Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
