Video: Bus Ferrying Passengers Going to a Wedding Plunges Into a River as The Driver Tries to Cross

A bus ferrying passengers headed to a wedding ceremony has plunged into a river while trying to cross over in Mwingi, Kitui County.

From a video footage shared via Sikika Road Safety, the school bus plunged while almost making it to the other side of the river amid screams and shouts from people.

The river was flooded and there was a lorry driving behind the bus but the driver quickly managed to halt his vehicle immediately after the school bus began sinking.

According to the report, the bus was full to capacity and more details will follow.

"Breaking news just in. Happening now a Mwingi Nguni...the bus was at full capacity and the passenger were going for a wedding," read the report.

The ongoing rains witnessed across the country have resulted in floodings and drivers have been warned to drive cautiously and avoid crossing submerged rivers and water bodies. The incident comes barely a week after a police car was washed away by floods in Narok County.
