President William Ruto's administration has announced gifts for all Kenyans attending the event in a move that appears to be a response to ODM leader Raila Odinga's planned parallel Jamhuri Day celebrations on Monday, December 12, 2022.
The National Celebrations Committee has announced free technology scholarships for certification courses for any eligible adult attending the celebrations in person at the Nyayo Stadium on Monday, according to information provided by recently sworn PS Interior Raymond Omollo.This is in keeping with the new Technology and Digital Economy theme for this year's 59th Jamhuri Day celebrations.
According to the government, this will elevate Kenya to the top talent in the world and the region for the digital economy and technology.
Raila Odinga, the head of the opposition, has promised to organize simultaneous Jamhuri Day celebrations at the Jacaranda Gardens in Embakasi, Nairobi.
