Bomet Man in Police Custody For Allegedly Killing Neighbour Over Sh400 Debt

A man who killed his neighbor yesterday night over a Sh400 debt has been apprehended by police in Bomet.

Evans Mutai, the owner of a shop in Sibaiyan, was detained after stabbing Festus Keter, 35, in the chest and continuing to trade items at his location.

The incident occurred after a dispute about a Sh400 bill owing to the shopkeeper by the dead. Keter was left for dead outside the shop after being stabbed in the right side of the chest.

A worried villager discovered the deceased's body and reported the event to detectives at Chesoen police station. Officers raced to the spot, which was 10 kilometers away, and performed preliminary investigations into the murder before apprehending the suspect.

A blood-stained knife, which was used in the murder, was also found and displayed as an exhibit. On Monday, Mutai will be arraigned in court to face murder accusations. Meanwhile, the deceased's body remains at the Longisa hospital mortuary awaiting an autopsy.
