Fear and panic has engulfed the Lukache area in Embakasi central after a gang of forty people who were armed with crude weapons raided a popular car wash in the estate and held employees and customers hostage.
Eyewitnesses recounted how the gang surrounded the business before gaining access through the main gate while others climbed the perimeter wall before they seized the car wash.
The gang attacked the security guards who were manning the gate with crude weapons, they then cornered the employees to one spot of the car wash and took some machines and electronics from the premises.
Customers who were also caught up in the scene got robbed off of their valuables with the gang loading their loot into a pickup that had been driven into the compound during the melee.
The guards and witnesses have blamed the police for their lackluster approach when they were called to the crime scene as nobody has been arrested in connection to the robbery.
"I saw young men climbing down the wall chanting, 'Kill them, kill them, All we ask is that the police receive reports, they should respond immediately as they could be saving the lives of others," one witness said.
