She had gone missing since 12 March 2021, after her husband dropped her off at her workplace. The family lawyer Daniel Maanzo said that the deceased was a state witness in several land cases wand was due to testify in one such case on 16 March 2021, the day after her body was discovered.

The DCI, in collaboration with Crime Research Intelligence Bureau, Cyber crims and the Scenes of Crime Special Service Unit, claim to have nailed the suspect in the murder, Peter Mwangi Njenga alias Ole Sankale.

They forensically placed the suspect at the scene of the crime, including eyewitnesses who saw the suspect with the deceased at that location on the same date.

A postmorteum conducted by government pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor concluded that the suspect had sexual intercourse with Ms Wambua before strangling her to death.

Ms Wambua is aid to have been at the location in Ngong Forest for prayers before Ole Sankale pounced on her. The suspect is accused of several other such cases at the same location.

On 15 January 2003, he was even sentenced to death at the Kibera Senior Magistrate's Court and detectives are puzzled how he is still a free man.
